IPM- Introduction to the Practice of Medicine

Introduction to the Practice of Medicine (IPM) educational series is designed to complement and reinforce what is being taught in the patient setting and didactic curriculums in your training programs. IPM addresses the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) competency requirements which call for programs to integrate the following competencies into their curriculum:

  • Patient Care
  • Medical Knowledge
  • Practice-based Learning and Improvement
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills
  • Professionalism
  • Systems-based Practice

Each IPM online course has a post test, course evaluation and certificate of completion for users who successfully complete the course requirements.

 

Grade A- All Housestaff, Grade A online courses are required by the institution to be complete prior to starting Harbor training.

2) Do's and Don'ts When Dealing with Difficult Patients

Professionalism:

3) Confidentiality 

4) Sleep Deprivation

5) Cultural Competency in Healthcare

Systems Based Practice:

6) Coding and Documentation for Resident Physicians- Part 1

7) Coding and Documentation for Resident Physcians- Part 2

8) Medical Record Documentation-It's Impact on Patient Care Communications  

     and Reimbursement and Compliance

Grade B- Residents will have within 24 months of their residency  training to complete the Grade B required courses. If the Residency/Internship is only 12 months the Grade B courses are required to be complete within the 12 months of training. Managed by Program Directors/Coordinators.

Grade BF- Fellows will have within 24 months of their fellowship training to complete the Grade BF required courses.If the fellowship is only 12 months the Grade BF courses are required to be complete within the 12 months of training. Managed by Program Directors/Coordinators.
