Residency Training Programs can request deferment of Jury Service for trainees. The request will not necessarily be granted but we have had luck with this in the past.

Have your trainees notify you as soon as they receive a jury summons. They will need to provide you with a copy of the summons so you can get important information off of the form to use in the request for deferment letter you will write. Trainees must follow all the directions in the jury summons letter they receive.

Download the Request for Deferment letter below. Paste the text into your own departmental letterhead. Fill in the missing information including all underlined areas. Mail the letter to the Jury Commission address listed at the top of the page and give a copy of the memo to the trainee requesting deferment.
