Child Abuse Crisis Center

The Child Crisis Center is a multidisciplinary child abuse forensic evaluation program established by the LA County Board of Supervisors in 1986, with on-site staff from the County departments of Health Services, Mental Health, and Children and Family Services. The Center includes an initial assessment clinic (the KIDS clinic) that provides physical and mental health assessment, and follow-up services, for children entering the foster care system or court-supervised children.

Child Life Program

Child Life Services, within the Department of Pediatrics, provides care for pediatric patients and families admitted to the Harbor-UCLA’s pediatric inpatient unit, pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric outpatient clinics and the Pediatric Emergency Department. Child Life Specialists provide age-appropriate, psychosocial care to pediatric and adolescent patients and their families to decrease distress and increase effective coping with health care experiences.
