Ronald J. Oudiz, MD is the Chief of the Division of Cardiology and the Director of the Liu Center for Pulmonary Hypertension. This expert referral center focuses on innovative pulmonary hypertension (PH) diagnosis, evaluation, and assessment of treatment response using cardiopulmonary exercise as well as clinical trials of new therapies for PH. Dr. Oudiz is a past Chair of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association's Scientific Leadership Council, past Chief Editor of the scientific publication Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension, and past chair of the ACCP's Pulmonary Vascular NetWork
Matthew J. Budoff, MD is the Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program. He has an extensive research program developing the clinical utility of the Cardiac CT. He has published on the utility of CT screening for coronary calcium as well as clinical validation work in cardiac CT angiography. He is the Principal investigator of the CT reading center for 9 ongoing NIH studies of cardiac CT.
Quang T. Bui, M.D. is the Medical Director of the Structural Heart Disease Program. His interests include cardiac catheterization, coronary and peripheral angioplasty and stents, balloon valvuloplasty, percutaneous aortic valve implantation, percutaneous mitral valve repair, closure of patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defects, alcohol septal ablation, and intracardiac echocardiography.
Robin Chand, MD is based at Martin Luther King Jr. Outpatient Center. Dr. Chand is an Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist, having completed extra training in Advanced Heart Failure at UCLA. His research interests include palliative care in heart failure, where he has recently received a grant to pilot a palliative care program in heart failure at Harbor-UCLA and MLK
Jina Chung, MD, FACC is a Level III trained physician in Echocardiography, Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiovascular CT. She is Director of Interventional Echo and Cardiac MRI. She is also the Associate Director of Cardiac CT. She has developed extensive teaching curricula in multimodality imaging, cardiovascular physiology & hemodynamics and interventional Echo/CT. Dr. Chung has also served as Subject Matter Expert for multiple LAC DHS countywide projects in cardiovascular EHR design, implementation, quality control and upgrades.
John Michael Criley, MD has published extensively on valvar and congenital heart diseases, the functional anatomy responsible for visible and audible bedside findings, the pathophysiology of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and mechanisms of systemic blood flow during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He currently, has a NIH grant to determine the effectiveness of new multimedia instructional materials for teaching bedside clinical examinations.
William J. French, MD is the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Interventional Cardiology Program Director. He is conducting studies involving patient outcomes following an acute myocardial infarction using the National Registry of Myocardial Infarction database. This registry is a large ongoing study of patients with acute myocardial infarction from 1500 hospitals throughout the United States. He is also conducting studies on the use of IIb/IIIa antiplatelet inhibitors during interventional cardiac procedures.
Sion Roy, MD is the Director of Inpatient Cardiac CT, as well as Associate Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship. His primary research interest is in the field of Cardiac CT. He is the Principal Investigator of several trials and has published extensively in the field. Additionally, Dr. Roy is a health policy expert and is the Immediate Past President of the Los Angeles County Medical Association and a member of the Board of Trustees of the California Medical Association. He is an elected trustee at Santa Monica College.
Joseph Thomas, MD is Program Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship and Chair of the Department of Medicine at Harbor-UCLA. His clinical interests span the breadth of interventional cardiology and research interests in acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest and novel diagnostics and therapeutics.
