The education and technical skills you obtain during your medical school clerkships, residency or fellowship training will have a lasting impact on your entire medical career.

Our OB/ GYN residency program at Harbor-UCLA encompasses a variety of training sites that will immerse you in the entire breadth of our specialty:  the managed care model at the various participating Kaiser institutions offer low risk Obstetrics and gynecologic surgical procedures. Our own institution is well known for our high risk obstetrics, complex surgical cases and our specialty and continuity clinics.   We believe in the importance of continuity of care, as you evaluate, treat and follow your patients throughout your residency.

All of the sub-specialties are well represented at Harbor-UCLA: Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Family Planning and Uro-Gynecology.  Harbor-UCLA has the oldest Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Uro-Gynecology) fellowship in the country, which currently has three full time FPMRS faculty involved with the medical students, residents and fellow’s education.   Whether to improve your laparoscopic techniques or prepare for your first surgical procedure, we offer many opportunities to hone your skills:  take- home laparoscopic trainers, use of our new simulation center, bi-annual operative laparoscopic animal labs, and our “Simulation Olympics” all enable you to enter the operating room with confidence.   Through all of the experiences gained from these rotations, our OB/GYN graduates, either entering practice as a Generalist or beginning sub specialty training, are well prepared to succeed in their chosen career path.

For our UCLA students rotating in this department for their core clerkship, as well as Sub-Interns from outside institutions who are looking to learn more about our program, every student will become an integral part of our OB/GYN team.  At the conclusion of their rotation, everyone is unanimously impressed at the acuity of our patients and the capabilities of our residents.
