Institutional Policy for Residency Program Self-Evaluation
PREAMBLE
The Program Requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and its Residency Review Committees require that all residency programs have periodic self-evaluation by the teaching staff. At least one resident should participate in this self-evaluation and written evaluations by the residents should be used in the process.
The Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) is mandated by the ACGME’s Institutional Requirements with ensuring that all of Harbor-UCLA’s residency programs meet Institutional and Program Requirements, and, when applicable, the Subspecialty Requirements as defined in the Essentials of Accredited Residencies.
POLICY
In order to ensure that all programs comply fully with the self-evaluation process, the GMEC has developed a Residency Program Self-Evaluation Form that shall be used by each program to meet this requirement.
The residency programs shall undergo self-evaluation annually.
The completed self-evaluation form shall be included in the section of the Policies and Procedures Binder (“Bluebook”) for annual review by the GMEC and for the more detailed internal review of the residency program that occurs between site visits of the relevant Residency Review Committee of the ACGME.
Adopted August 2000, Reviewed July 2002, Reviewed August 2004
