Harbor-UCLA adheres to the requirements for frequency of call, work hours and days off that are detailed in the Program Requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Transitional Year residents will be expected to take call in a manner identical to that of categorical first-year residents on the service to which they are assigned.

Current call schedules for the major services:

Medicine Wards: Every 5
Surgery Wards : Elective Services - every 5 to 8 night; Trauma Service - every 5 to 9
Pediatrics: Every 6 night
OB/GYN: Every 4 night
Emergency Medicine: 14 to 16 twelve-hour shifts in a 28 day period

With unusual exceptions, the residents should have no new clinical duties in the day following night call.
