Netanel Zilberstein, MD, MS, DABOM 

 

Dr. Netanel Zilberstein is triple board certified in gastroenterology, obesity medicine, and internal medicine with subspecialty training in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Advanced Endoscopy. 
He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, followed by an IBD research and clinical fellowship at Rush University Medical Center. He then went on to specialize in gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at Rush, where he was selected for the research track and earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Research.
During fellowship, Dr. Zilberstein received a National Institute of Health (NIH) Research Service Award to study the role of oral inflammation and the oral microbiome in patients with IBD.   He was also awarded a Rainin Foundation grant to conduct a randomized controlled trial evaluating the role of chronobiology in IBD. He subsequently served as Chief Fellow at Rush University Medical Center.
Dr. Zilberstein completed an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received comprehensive training in complex endoscopic procedures. His advanced expertise includes endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for biliary and pancreatic disorders, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoluminal stent placement, endoscopic suturing, and the management of complex esophageal strictures. He joined our team at Harbor-UCLA in 2025. His current clinical and research interests focus on endoscopic interventions for weight loss, advanced endoscopic procedures to treat patients with IBD, and  novel techniques in interventional endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP.
He is an active member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Quality Assurance in Endoscopy Committee and currently serves as the Director of the Endobariatrics and Metabolic Endoscopy Program at Harbor-UCLA.
