Leadership
Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
The Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Program at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center was among the first Urogynecology programs in the country. We have trained some of the finest Urogynecology surgeons, and continue our tradition of creating a rich learning environment where trainees will master conservative and surgical approaches to Pelvic Floor Disorders. Fellows gain expertise in vaginal and laparoscopic/robotic approaches while treating our predominately underserved Los Angeles county population.
Fellows graduating from HUMC will be equipped to provide the gamut of care for women with pelvic floor disorders in private, public and academic environments. Our mission is to recruit, develop, and train outstanding humanistic and devoted Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic surgeons who are fully qualified as consultant-level subspecialists and are well-prepared to serve their community. Fellows also get exposure to our multi-disciplinary approach to patients through the Pelvic Floor Center.
Our faculty is involved in patient-centered research regarding both conservative and surgical management. Our focus is on improving the quality of care for all women, including underserved and minority women with pelvic floor disorders.

Simulation LAB
The Simulation LAB, with laparoscopic and robotic training modules available, provides the opportunity for residents, fellows, and med students to get comfortable and skilled with the equipment and mechanics of both laparoscopic and robotic approaches. The simulation lab also provides the opportunity for fellows to organize and take the teaching role in a safe environment to the junior learners. Fellows have access to robotics simulations throughout the year to improve on their dexterity outside of the many cases they partake in. Anatomy sessions are utilized to expand on their knowledge and ultimately skills used in the operating room.
