Division of Pediatric Nephrology provides services to children, adolescents and young adults from birth to 21 years of age. We evaluate and manage common and complex renal conditions from urinary tract infections to glomerulonephritis (idiopathic, secondary, autoimmune and hereditary), nephrotic syndrome (primary and secondary), renal tubular disorders, chronic renal failure, acute renal failure, congenital or genetic renal disorders such as nephrocalcinosis, cystic renal diseases, polycystic kidney disease, tuberous sclerosis complex, Alport syndrome, neonatal renal complications, hypertension (primary and secondary), kidney stone disease, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, bone mineral metabolism disorders, various other renal conditions that may occur secondary to trauma or multisystem disorders such as hormonal effects on kidneys or toxins mediated conditions.

Our Renal Center Care that is approved by California Children’s Services is run by a multidisciplinary team which consist of nephrologist, nurse, dietitian and social worker. We provide very high quality of care to children, primarily from underserved population in the community, with chronic kidney disease or hypertension. We also perform dialysis (CRRT, hemo and peritoneal) for inpatients as a provisional treatment or until the care is transferred to a chronic facility.

Dr. Chandramohan completed her Pediatric Nephrology fellowship at UCSF. She has been dedicated to serving an underserved population throughout her career, beginning in 1997 as a Pediatric Nephrologist at King/Drew Medical Center, then at both Miller Children’s Hospital and Harbor-UCLA. She has served as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Harbor-UCLA since 2014. She is the Medical Director of the California Children’s Service Renal Center at Harbor-UCLA.

She has been a mentor in many different capacities, including her long-standing mentorship to Drew-UCLA School of Medicine students since 1997.

Her expertise is internationally recognized, reflected in presentations at international meetings. Her insights have informed the national committees that she has served.

Her research interests include clinical trials for the treatment of hypertension and studying the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and cardio-renal risk factors in African American children.
