We recognize the systemic bias that exists within the system of GME, as well as the fact that implicit bias exists within all of us and must be deliberately identified and rooted out. Our programs and department have taken several measures to address these issues, and those measures extend to our consideration of every applicant to our programs.

We reeducate our reviewers yearly regarding our holistic approach to application reviews. When reviewing an application, we place considerable weight on things like the applicant’s lived experiences, their communities, intersectionality, character traits, educational path, and commitment to our patient population.
