Call responsibilities are in-house, primarily in the Harbor Psychiatric Emergency Services Unit (PER) on weeknights, weekends, and holidays. Nurses, physicians, and caseworkers are centrally co-located in the PER.  Call duties mostly include new and follow-up evaluations of patients within the Adult Psychiatric ER,  the Adolescent Psychiatric ER, and consultations to the adult and pediatric medical emergency room.  Call responsibilities also include covering as-needed issues from the Inpatient and Consultation-Liaison Services.  Interns and residents take call shifts in-house and may contact child fellows and faculty available at all times by phone for clinical issues and supervision of cases. Direct supervision from attendings is also available for certain hours during weeknights and weekends.
