Harbor-UCLA Robotic Surgery Program

Established August 8, 2014 as the first robotic program in a county-run hospital.

Two DaVinci Robotic Systems, one of which is the Xi robot–the most up to date equipment available.

In the first 15 months, over 200 procedures were performed with the assistance of a surgical robot.

Surgical services actively utilizing the robot include Urology, Surgical Oncology, General Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Gynecologic Oncology and Urogynecology.

The robotic program has four main missions:

  1. to offer the patients of Los Angeles County the most technologically advanced care
  2. to provide robotic surgery training to our residents and fellows
  3. to attract and retain the best possible surgical faculty
  4. to innovate within the field of robotic surgery

Residents participate in a rigorous robotic educational program that includes use of the robotic simulator, didactic lectures, and–most importantly–hands on training in the operating room.
